Nahid is said to be angry with the functioning of the Yunus government. Last year, Islam was one of the leaders leading the student movement against Sheikh Hasina’s policies. There was talk of Nahid leaving the post for the last few days. Addressing the media after resigning, Nahid said that he had resigned from the cabinet and all other committees.

It is expected that Nahid Islam will take over the responsibility of the convenor of the new political party, which is going to be launched on Friday. This new political party is going to start at the initiative of the anti -discrimination student movement and the National Citizen Committee. The discussion of party formation was going on for several days. On Sunday, Islam met Mohammad Yunus. Since then, there was speculation that he had decided to resign. When he arrived for a meeting at Yunus’s residence, his car was flagged off, but when he left after the meeting, the flag was missing.

The resignation of Nahid Islam from the cabinet and the formation of a new party by agitating students has strengthened the possibility that elections may be held in the neighboring country Bangladesh soon and democracy may be restored. With the new move, the student leaders who agitated against Sheikh Hasina have started pressurizing the Yunus government. However, Mohammad Yunus has said that elections may be held by the end of 2025.

Yunus is an indiscriminate and unpopular leader. They do not get public support. Ever since becoming the head of the interim government, attacks on minorities including Hindus have also increased during their tenure. He has given open exemption to the Islamists. Due to this, he is also being criticized all -round.
