Television actor Shoaib Ibrahim was at the receiving end of severe backlash over his post on Pahalgam after the terrorist attack in the valley. The actor has now finally issued a statement on the fiasco and has revealed that he was being trolled and abused on social media for no reason.

It all began after Shoaib, post his vacation in Kashmir, informed his fans that wife Dipika Kakar and him were safe, and while at it, he dropped an update about his upcoming vlog, which did not go well with netizens. He was slammed for promoting his vlog even while speaking about a terrorist attack and people called his post “tone deaf”.

Reacting to the harsh criticism, Shoaib questioned in his latest vlogs that why was only he targeted, while other celebs indulged in film promotions, music launches and other events. He also revealed that he has been receiving abusive messages on social media, and the trolls are not just abusing him but also his wife and family.

Explaining the fiasco, he said, “We flew from Srinagar to Delhi on April 22 and when we were in flight in the afternoon, the Pahalgam incident took place at that time which we were not aware of. When we landed in Delhi and switched on our phones finally after a week we got our network as we all know prepaid sims don’t work in Kashmir. We started getting messages from people asking about our wellbeing. We did not bother much because we were travelling with a kid especially. When we reached our hotel, the news about the attack started coming in but they initially said that one or two people were injured. We only knew about the injured people so we thought of informing everyone and I put up the story to inform everyone that we are safe and vlog coming out soon. But we did not expect that people will make it so big.”

He went on to say, “It was never my intention to promote the vlog. I did not have the entire information about the attack. When I started getting other videos and information that’s when we learnt about the entire situation. We were at the same place a few days ago. I did not delete my story as my intention was never to promote the vlog. Par kayi log mujhe maa-behan ki gaaliyaan bakk rahe hain DMs par.”

Shoaib then asked, “Even if I had gone ahead and posted the vlog, why are only Dipika and I being targeted? Are we special for you? All vloggers have been uploading videos on daily basis, film promotions and music video promotions are happening. Even you guys must be leading your life the same way like before. You all are eating, singing, doing your work. So why am I the only one to get targeted?”

Meanwhile, Dipika has not reacted to the backlash yet. The couple has shared a slew of photos from their Kashmir trip on social media, which was also their son Ruhaan’s first outing.
