In a major shocker for fans, veteran actor Shivaji Satam, who became a household name as ACP Pradyuman in the iconic show CID, is reportedly bidding farewell to the long-running series. The upcoming episodes will witness a tragic twist that sees Pradyuman’s character’s death.
According to a report in India Today, the storyline will revolve around Barbosa, the notorious leader of the Eye Gang, played by veteran actor Tigmanshu Dhulia, planting a deadly bomb to target the CID team.
While the rest of the team manages to survive, ACP Pradyuman succumbs to the explosion. “The team recently shot the episode, which will go on air in a few days,” a source told the portal, adding that the makers want the twist to come as a surprise to viewers.
While several characters in the past have made a comeback after being killed off, it has been reported that the makers currently have no plans to revive ACP Pradyuman, though that could change depending on audience response.
Shivaji Satam has not commented on the reports yet.
CID fans are understandably stunned, as ACP Pradyuman has been the face of the show for over two decades. His signature lines, “Daya, darwaza tod do,” and “Kuch toh gadbad hai” remain Indian television’s most iconic dialogues.
Notably, CID was re-launched earlier this year and is currently streaming on Netflix. The franchise has also expanded into an animated series titled CID Squad – Naye Yug Ka Naya CID.
Alongside Satam, the series stars Dayanand Shetty as Inspector Daya and Aditya Srivastava as Inspector Abhijeet, with each episode following the team’s thrilling crime investigations.
