Shiv Sena (UBT) Stages Protests at Kranti Chowk, Opposes Anand Dighe Statue Near Shiv Stambh |
The Shiv Sena (UBT) staged demonstrations at Kranti Chowk on Monday to condemn the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. The flag of Bangladesh was kicked with feet and later burned. The demonstrators shouted the slogans “Hindu Ke Sanman Me, Shiv Sena Maidan Mein.” The entire Kranti Chowk area echoed with the slogans.
Legislative Council Leader of Opposition Ambadas Danve led the demonstrations. Shiv Sena Mahanagar chief Raju Vaidya, former Mayor Nandkumar Ghodele, Subhash Patil, Deputy District Chief Santosh Girjaram Halnor, Vijay Waghmare, Chandrakant Gawai, Hira Salampure, Kishor Kachwah, City Chief Haribhau Hiwale, Dnyaneshwar Dange, Raju Shinde, Gopal Kulkarni, Kamlakar Jagtap, Ram Kekan, Adv Dharmaraj Danve, Sukanya Bhosale, Meena Bhasate, Vaishali Aarat, Sunita Avtade, Pawan Dabhade, and other leaders were present.
Later, the Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders went to the Shiv Stambh near Vedantnagar Police Station and opposed the proposed statue of Late Anand Dighe near Shiv Stambh. Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) had earlier brought cement and sand to the spot for constructing the statue. However, the UBT faction opposed it. They said that the statue of great men should be established elsewhere, not near Shiv Stambh.
The Shiv Stambh was constructed around 15 years ago. Shiv Sena organizes the celebrations of the anniversaries of great men here. Shiv Sena is now preparing to construct a statue of Anand Dighe here and brought the construction materials. Ambadas Danve learned about it, and along with other leaders, went to the spot to oppose the construction of the statue. He hoisted a saffron flag on the Shiv Stambh and later garlanded the portrait of Late Balasaheb Thackeray. Danve said that they oppose the statue at this place and if the Shinde faction forcibly erects a statue here, they will initiate an agitation in Shiv Sena style.
