Shiv Sena (UBT) Leader Sanjay Raut Criticises Waqf Amendment Bill For Seizing Minority Lands Benefiting Industrialists | Sansad TV
Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MP Sanjay Raut expressed a strong opposition to the Waqf Amendment Bill, asserting that the BJP government is intent on seizing lands belonging to Muslims, Christians, Parsis, and temples.
In a press conference on April 7, he criticized the government’s motives, claiming that this legislation is an underhanded attempt to benefit industrialists by appropriating valuable religious lands valued at Rs 2 lakh crore. Raut emphasized that the bill lacks any religious basis and is unrelated to the concepts of Hindutva or the Uniform Civil Code. Instead, he described it as a maneuver to commercialize the properties of the Waqf Board.
Asserting Shiv Sena’s Stance On Waqf Bill
Additionally, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut indicated that the Shiv Sena considers the controversy surrounding the Waqf Board Amendment Bill to be resolved. He criticized certain factions for seeking judicial intervention rather than addressing the issue politically, referencing remarks from legal expert Abhishek Manu Singhvi in the Rajya Sabha. Singhvi described the amendment as unconstitutional, claiming it undermines various constitutional provisions. Raut concluded by sharing the consensus among legal experts that the bill is unlikely to face legal challenge in the Supreme Court, thus suggesting that the matter may be settled outside of judicial scrutiny.
Raut reiterated his position against the bill, clarifying that it has the backing of those with vested interests in the land. He highlighted Amit Shah’s previous statements that imply the government’s readiness to sell this land and raised concerns about who would actually purchase it. Overall, Raut firmly opposed the bill, framing it as a financial maneuver at the expense of minority communities.
Sanjay Raut: ‘Adani is India’s Elon Musk’
Sanjay Raut made a statement equating Elon Musk to India’s Adani, suggesting that public discontent in America might mirror potential unrest in India once the fervor of blind loyalty diminishes. He accused Modi and Shah of eyeing the significant assets of the Waqf Board, implying their intent to transfer this wealth to favored industrialists. Raut expressed concern that the current land grabs targeting Muslims could extend to Christians, with possibilities of claims over significant religious sites such as Bodh Gaya. He emphasized that the BJP would assert territorial claims even at places like Chaityabhoomi.
