Shiv Sena MP Shrirang Barne Accuses Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Of Ignoring Citizen Complaints; BJP MLC Amit Gorkhe Reacts | X/@MPShrirangBarne
Shiv Sena MP Shrirang Barne has accused the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police of ignoring complaints from common citizens. In his letter to Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Barne also claimed that the police are focusing more on cases where monetary gains can be made rather than addressing the issues of ordinary citizens.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Maval MP wrote, “I met Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey and expressed my displeasure with the functioning of the police administration. Complaints from common citizens arriving at police stations within the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate’s jurisdiction are not being addressed immediately, causing mental distress to the complainants. Therefore, all complaints should be handled promptly and properly. Appropriate instructions should be given to officers who ignore these complaints.” He added, “I also clarified that it is the administration’s primary duty to maintain public trust in the government and provide justice to the people.”
Barne further mentioned in his letter that the maximum number of complaints regarding police harassment of citizens have been reported from areas under the jurisdiction of Hinjawadi, Kalewadi and Sangvi Police Stations.
Meanwhile, reacting to the Sena leader’s accusation, BJP MLC Amit Gorkhe stated that he would personally talk to Barne to understand the problem. “Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also holds the Home Department, is perfectly capable. I don’t think anything like this would happen under his leadership, so Barne need not worry,” he added.
Interestingly, Barne, who is an MP from the Eknath Shinde faction, is part of the ruling Mahayuti alliance in the state.
