‘Mocking A Self-made Leader’: Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora Slams Kunal Kamra Over ‘Traitor’ Jibe At Dy CM Eknath Shinde |
Mumbai: Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has landed in controversy after mocking Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during a recent show. Kamra called Shinde a ‘traitor’ while referencing the song ‘Dil To Pagal Hai,’ sparking widespread backlash, particularly from the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction).
Milind Deora Slams Kunal Kamra For Disrespectful Remarks
Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora criticised Kamra’s remarks, calling them elitist and disrespectful. In a post on X, Deora wrote, “Mocking Eknath Shinde ji—a self-made leader who rose from driving an auto to leading India’s second-largest state—reeks of classist arrogance. India is rejecting entitled monarchs & their bootlicking ecosystem that pretends to champion meritocracy & democracy.”
As the clip from Kamra’s show went viral, Shiv Sena workers stormed the office of The Unicontinental Mumbai in Khar West in protest. Party workers also gathered at the Khar Police Station to file a complaint against Kamra, while others approached MIDC Police Station demanding action against the comedian.
Shiv Sena Warns Of Further Legal Action
Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel, who was present at the police station, condemned Kamra’s remarks and demanded legal action. Speaking to FPJ, Patel stated, “Kunal Kamra made very low remarks about Dy CM Eknath Shinde. We arrived at the police station and demanded that an FIR be filed against him. If Kamra does not apologize within two days, we will smear black colour on his face.”
The Shinde-led faction of Shiv Sena has been vocal in its criticism, calling for Kamra’s arrest and urging Mumbai Police to take strict action. The party has also warned of further legal consequences if the comedian fails to issue a public apology.
Kamra, known for his political satire, has often courted controversy with his sharp critiques of political leaders. However, the latest incident has escalated tensions, with Shiv Sena workers intensifying their demands for legal and public action against him.
