Shiv Sena leader and former minister Ramdas Kadam took a dig at BJP leader and Maharashtra’s Forest Minister Ganesh Naik over his upcoming Janata Darbar in Thane district. Kadam suggested that Naik should not limit the event to Thane but should also hold similar sessions in Nagpur, the constituency of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Political circles are abuzz with speculation that the BJP is attempting to expand its influence in Shinde’s stronghold.

“It is good that the government’s work is reaching the people. Balasaheb always said that if people are approaching ministers for work, the ministers should go to them. Governance should be people-centric,” said Kadam. He added that Naik, who was inactive for a period, now seems eager to travel across Maharashtra to review government work.

Kadam further remarked, “Naik should not only hold Janata Darbars in Thane but across Maharashtra, including in Nagpur, the home turf of Devendra Fadnavis. This would set a benchmark for effective governance. Minister Ganesh Naik is a dynamic leader. At one point, he was even considered a contender for the Chief Minister’s post. However, his current initiatives appear to be more of a symbolic gesture rather than bringing about real action.”

Meanwhile, Palghar Guardian Minister and senior BJP leader Ganesh Naik conducted a Janata Darbar on Monday at Vishnudas Bhave Auditorium in Navi Mumbai to address public grievances. Responding to questions about the initiative, Naik had previously stated, “As the Guardian Minister, I will hold a Janata Darbar every month. Since Navi Mumbai is my constituency, I will also organise one there regularly. In Thane, the event will take place every three months. Resolving people’s issues is a collective responsibility of the government.”

On another note, addressing the issue of ministerial appointments, Kadam stated that he felt disappointed with the earlier decisions regarding the Guardian Minister positions for Raigad and Nashik. However, he expressed confidence that the three key leaders would make the right choices soon.
