Night landing facility will soon be available at Shirdi Airport, and a review of the work in this regard was taken at a meeting at Shirdi Airport on Thursday, informed Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol in the meeting.
“The work of recarpeting the runway is currently underway, and efforts are also being made to provide additional manpower for ATC (Air Traffic Control) and CISF. I am confident that this process will be completed quickly, and Shirdi will be included in the list of night landing airports, he added.
Once the night landing facility is available at Shirdi Airport, the flow of passengers will increase significantly, and this will have a positive impact on the economy and development of Shirdi.
The meeting was attended by officers from various departments, including the in-charge director of the airport, Krishna Paul.
Direct flight launched between PNQ & IXE
In good news for Punekars, a direct Air India Express flight between Pune and Mangalore will begin today (January 4) to boost regional connectivity.
The flight is scheduled to operate twice every Saturday. It will depart from Pune to Mangalore at 9:55am and 8:35pm, and arrive in Pune from Mangalore at 11:40am and 10:05pm, respectively.
“This new route is expected to strengthen business and cultural ties while providing a seamless travel experience for passengers commuting between the two cities. The service is part of the airline’s ongoing efforts to expand its domestic network and cater to the growing demand for efficient regional air travel,” an Air India Express official said.
Meanwhile, the total number of flights to international destinations from Pune Airport has increased to five — two flights to Dubai, two to Bangkok and one to Singapore.
Additionally, the Maharashtra Assembly recently passed a unanimous resolution requesting the Centre to name Pune Airport as Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj International Airport. The resolution will be sent to the Civil Aviation Ministry for further action.
