Shimla News: Suraj, arrested in the famous doll rape and murder case in Kotkhai in Shimla district of Himachal, died in a lockup, in the case, the CBI court of Chandigarh sentenced eight today (27 January) on Monday (27 January). Life imprisonment to policemen including former IG of Himachal. On 18 January, the court convicted eight police officers, including former IG Zahoor H Zaidi of Himachal.
Eight policemen including IG imprisoned for life
Other officials including DSP Manoj Joshi, SI Rajinder Singh, ASI Deep Chand Sharma, Honorary Head Constable Mohan Lal and Surat Singh, Head Constable Rafi Mohammad and Constable Runted Satta were convicted by the CBI court. The case is of Kotkhai in Shimla district, the court has also pronounced different punishment and fine under different sections. The court has imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on all the accused. However, the court acquitted former Superintendent of Police (SP) DW Negi in the case.
Case of rape and murder from a minor student
Earlier, the CBI court heard the last appeal of the culprits on Monday morning. This case of death in custody is related to rape and murder of a 16 -year -old student in Kotkhai area. The case in this case lasted for about eight years. During this, the CBI conducted a thorough investigation and presented all the evidence of police harassment before the court. In the year 2017, there was an incident of rape of dolls (fictional names). The police have arrested Suraj in the whole case. After this, the case reached the court regarding the death of accused Suraj in custody. In which a total of 9 policemen were accused, in which a police officer was acquitted by the court.
What was the whole incident?
According to the information, on 4 July 2017, when the girl was returning home from school, the accused kidnapped her, raped her and killed the student. On 7 July 2017, the body of the doll was found in the forest of Kotkhai. After 2 days of investigation of the entire incident, the local police handed over the case to the state SIT of Himachal Police. At that time SIT was formed under the leadership of Shimla IG Zahoor H Zaidi. The SIT has arrested 2 people named Raju and Suraj in this case. But Suraj died in police custody.
When it was suspected that there was something wrong after the death of the sun. Subsequently, on 22 July 2017, the CBI took up the case and later arrested IG Zaidi, DSP Joshi and other police personnel for his role in Suraj’s custody.
