- Rice: Avoid consuming rice. Eating rice on this day is considered inauspicious.
- Basil: Do not touch or pluck basil leaves. It is believed that Tulsi ji observes a fast on this day, hence it is not appropriate to touch her.
- Black clothes: Avoid wearing black colored clothes on this day. To maintain the blessings of Lord Vishnu, it is auspicious to wear yellow colored clothes.
