Actress Sonakshi Sinha and actor Zaheer Iqbal got married in June this year, but what caught everyone’s attention was that the Dabangg girl’s brothers, Luv Sinha and Kussh Sinha were missing from the festivities. Shatrughan Sinha has now opened up on the same, and he stated that his sons were in “pain and confusion”.
In an interview with Lehren Retro, Sinha hinted at the brothers being unhappy about Sonakshi’s interfaith marriage with Zaheer. “I won’t complain. They are only humans. They maybe still not be so mature. I do understand their pain and confusion. There is always a cultural reaction,” he said.
He further explained, “Maybe, if I was their age, I might have had a similar reaction to it. But, here is where your maturity, seniority, and experience come in place. Hence, my reaction was not as extreme as my sons.”
Shatrughan also mentioned that he supports his daughter’s decision to marry Zaheer wholeheartedly, and that he enjoyed to his heart’s content at their wedding. “I have always been with her, and I will continue to be so. We speak so much about women’s empowerment, how is it wrong for her to choose her partner? Not like she did anything illegal. She was mature,” he stated.
Sonakshi and Zaheer dated for seven years before tying the knot on June 23, 2024, in a private ceremony. The two got married at the former’s residence in the presence of their friends and family members.
“On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017) in each others eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs… leading up to this moment… where with the blessings of both our families and both our gods… we are now man and wife,” they wrote, announcing their wedding.
