Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh Minister Vishwas Sarang has strongly criticised Congress MLA Arif Masood for his comment promoting Sharia—a set of Muslim law. The BJP Minister emphasised that India and Madhya Pradesh are solely govern by the Constitution and religion should be limited to personal life only.

The controversy erupted after Congress MLA Arif Masood, reportedly, urged the Muslim community to prioritise Sharia law above political affairs. Addressing a public gathering, Masood said no political party should be more important than Sharia for the community.

The statement attracted a huge criticism against the Congress MLA. In a video posted by ND_News on Instagram, BJP leader and state minister Vishwas Sarang slammed Masood and accused him of hypocrisy.

‘Taking picture is also banned in Shariya’

He said, “People like Arif Masood talk about Sharia but don’t follow it themselves. According to Sharia, certain practices like taking photographs and listening to music are forbidden. Yet, these same leaders ignore such principles while claiming to protect them.”

Sarang further alleged that Masood’s political success involves unethical practices. “Sharia prescribes amputation of hands for theft, yet Arif Masood has gained power through unfair means and is now engaged in politics.”

‘Only those who follow Constitution, shall live in India’

Lastly, Minister Sarang said that any kind of communalism will not be tolerated in the state and the country itself. Personal religious choices can be practiced within households and when it comes to the country, India will be governed only by the ‘Constitution.’

Aur agar itni Shariyat ki baat karte hain to yahan may raho, wahan raho jahan Shariyat ka kanoon hai. Ye desh keval aur keval Samvidhan se chalega aur jo desh desh ke Samvidhan ke hisab se chalega, keval wahi is desh me rahega….“And if you talk so much about Sharia, then live where Sharia law is followed. This country will be governed solely by the Constitution, and only those who live according to the Constitution will stay in this country,”  ” he concluded.
