The decline in the stock market continued even on the last day of the trading week. Sensex fell 241 points and closed at 77,416 points. While Nifty closed at 23,438 points with a fall of 88.30 points. Both Sensex and Nifty closed in the red. The market closed with a decline for the third consecutive day. Except IT, all sector indices declined. Selling was seen in midcap and smallcap shares. The Nifty Bank index closed down about 1.5%. Selling was seen in realty, pharma, PSE shares, while energy, metal, auto indices closed with losses.
Top Loser-Top Gainer
TCS, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Infosys, HCL Technologies were the top gainers on Nifty. While Shriram Finance, IndusInd Bank, Adani Enterprises, NTPC and Bharat Electronics were the top falling stocks on Nifty.
BSE midcap and smallcap indices closed down 2 per cent. Except IT, all sector indices closed in the red. PSU Bank, Power, Realty, Healthcare, PSU Bank indices were down 2 per cent.
