The stock market started on Tuesday morning. But with the closing at 3.30 pm, both Sensex and Nifty closed in the red. Sensex fell 105.79 points to 80,004 and Nifty fell 27.40 points to 24,194.

After 2 days of rally, the market was trading in a range and Nifty, Nifty Bank closed flat. Midcap index closed flat. The smallcap index rose nearly 1 percent. There was buying in IT, FMCG and metal stocks. Auto, Pharma, Energy indices closed with losses. Infra, oil and gas stocks remained under pressure.
Top gainer and top loser
Britannia Industries, Asian Paints, Shriram Finance, Bharat Electronics, Infosys were the top gainers in Nifty. Ad. Enterprises, Ad. Ports, UltraTech Cement, Sun Pharma and Bajaj Auto were the top Nifty losers.
