The market closed with a rise on Wednesday. Talking about the market closing at 3.30 pm, both Nifty and Sensex closed in the green. Talking about Nifty, Nifty closed at 24,461 points with a slight gain of 4.10 points. While the Sensex closed at 80,956 points with a gain of 110.58 points. After 2 days of rise, the market appeared to be in a limited range. Amidst the ups and downs, Nifty managed to recover from lower levels and close. Good growth was seen in midcap index Bank Nifty.
Top gainers and losers
HDFC Life, HDFC Bank, Apollo Hospitals, NTPC, Bajaj Finserv are top gainers in Nifty. Bharti Airtel, Cipla, Bajaj Auto, Tata Motors, Adani Ports are the top losers in Nifty.
On the sectoral front, auto and FMCG indices closed 0.5 per cent lower. IT and media indices closed with a gain of 0.5 percent. While the PSU Bank index rose 2 percent.
