Sensex fell 1235 points to close at 76,001 points and Nifty fell 291 points to close at 23,053 points.
Huge volatility in Indian market
The market witnessed volatility after US President Donald Trump announced higher trade tariffs on neighboring countries. Trump announced plans to impose trade tariffs on neighboring countries within hours of taking office. Shortly after taking office on Monday, he said his administration was considering imposing 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada starting Feb. 1.
