Actor Sharad Kelkar is all set to make his comeback on television after 8 long years with the show, Tum Se Tum Tak. And while fans were ecstatic about his comeback, they were left disappointed after the makers dropped the promo of the show on Sunday, as it shows the love story of two people with an age gap of 27 years.
In the promo, the female lead played by Niharika Chouksey, is introduced as a 19-year-old chirpy, middle-class girl, whose mother wants to get her married to a well-settled man. On the other hand, Sharad is introduced as a 46-year-old uber-rich businessman, who travels in his private chopper and is surrounded by swanky cars. But the only thing missing in his life is love, and when his mother expresses her wish to see him find a life partner, he says that he was too old for that now.
The promo ends with Niharika’s character gazing at Sharad’s private chopper flying from above her house, and the voice-over hinting that the two will eventually fall in love, defying all the barriers of age and class.
And while the makers have pinned their hopes on the show, especially as it marks Sharad’s comeback, fans were left aghast and disappointed seeing the jarring age difference. “What bothers me is that how this Sharad agreed to do something like this (sic),” a user commented, while another questioned, “I did not expect this from him. Why did he agree to do this? (sic).”
“This is the age gap between my dad and my elder sister. What the f are they doing? (sic),” a netizen wrote, and another exclaimed, “This is beyond disgusting! (sic).”
Meanwhile, Sharad was last seen on television in the 2017 mystery show, Koi Laut Ke Aaya Hai, post which he completely shifted his focus to movies. He starred in some highly-acclaimed films, including Sky Force, Srikanth, Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga, Laxmii, Tanhaji, Bhediya, and others.
