In a strange development from just this field, an HR in a Shanghai-based tech company pulled a scam of monumental proportions. According to a report from Oddity Central, the company HR weaved a web of deception, in which they hired employees for the company and paid them their salaries.

Fake Accounts, Fake Profiles
The only difference here is that the employees were all fake, and the salaries went directly to the HR himself.
This elaborate scam ran for a puzzling 8 years. In this span, the HR, who’s name has been stated as Yang, accrued a mammoth sum of Rs 20,00,00,000 or Rs 20 crore.

These Ghost Employees ‘worked’ for close to a decade and ‘earned’ their salary at the end of the month. Only Yang, the HR bagged them.

The duplicitous charade started in 2014, when Yang, as the solitary authority to hire new people, created fake profiles and bank accounts for those profiles who were hired by Yang.

A Gap In The Cunning Plan
The report suggests that this devious plan could have gone for a long time to come. Then the question is, what gave it away? Ever criminal, as they say leaves a trace behind. And, in this case, what nailed Yang was a an inconsistency of consistency.

After the investigation by authorities, Yang, the HR manager was punished. He was slapped with a prison time of 10 years and 2 months.

This led the organisation to the path suspicion, which eventually resulted in an internal investigation in 2022, which brought out the crime.
