News India Live, Digital Desk: Shameful Act of Fundamentalists in Bangladesh: The minority Hindu community in Bangladesh is constantly facing religious oppression. Recently, a video of a shameful act of fundamentalists is becoming increasingly viral on social media, in which they are seen cutting an ancient banyan tree with saws. This tree was about 200 years old, under which people of the Hindu community used to perform worship and religious rituals regularly.
Tree cutting video viral
In the viral video, it can be clearly seen that two persons are cutting the tree branches with saws, while there is a crowd of fundamentalists around. These people did not want the Hindu community to worship here. Banyan tree is considered very sacred in Hinduism. It is called Vat tree or Akshayavat, and it is believed that it resides in Brahma, Vishnu and Lord Shankar.
Hindus declining population in Bangladesh
According to the latest reports, the population of Hindus in Muslim -majority Bangladesh has rapidly decreased to less than 8 percent of the total population. The number of Hindus has been limited to about 125 crores due to religious fanaticism, violence and forced conversion.
Ever since the Sheikh Hasina government, Mohammad Yunus has taken power, there has been an increase in anti-Hindu incidents. There have also been violent attacks on the Hindu community in the last few months, which is raising concern internationally.
