The Bombay High Court on Wednesday, July 5, delivered its verdict in the bribery case involving the Cordelia Cruz drugs case. IRS officer Sameer Wankhede, who is an accused in the CBI extortion and bribery case, has been allowed by the court to amend his plea and add more details. In which legal action was also taken against the bribe giver. CBI should also include his name in this.

Actually, Sameer Wankhede was on the post of Director General in NCB i.e. Narcotics Control Bureau. It was alleged that he and four other accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 25 crore to implicate Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in the Cordelia Cruise case. But the deal was fixed for Rs 18 crore. Then in May 2023, Wankhede moved the High Court seeking closure of the case and interim protection from arrest.

Sameer Wankhede’s lawyer demanded from the court

Now on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, Wankhede’s lawyers Abad Ponda, Rizwan Merchant and Sneha Sampa sought permission from the court to amend the petition. The said petition will be amended to include additional grounds relating to Sections 7, 7A and 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Also, action should be taken against any person who offers or attempts to bribe a public servant.

Hearing will be held on July 20

A division bench of Justice AS Gadkari and Justice SG Dege allowed the amendment in the petition but also said that they would not allow further amendments. Now the hearing on this application will be held on July 20. Till then the CBI has to respond to this amended application. Not only this, the court has also extended the interim security of Sameer Wankhede till then.
