Hisar. The effect of continuous snowfall in the mountains is clearly visible in the plains. The night temperature in Hisar has remained below 2 degrees Celsius for the last three days continuously. Frost has started forming in the fields and people are making every possible effort to escape the cold. Yellow alert of cold wave has been issued in 17 districts of the state on Saturday. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of some relief from this cold outbreak from December 16.

The effect of cold wave will last till December 15

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cold wave will continue in Haryana till December 15. The night temperature may drop further. The minimum temperature in Hisar continues to remain below 2 degrees Celsius, due to which the effect of cold can be clearly seen even during the day.

Cold winds continued to blow throughout the day on Friday, due to which people remained hiding in their homes. However, there was some relief due to sunshine in the afternoon. At present, the maximum day temperature in most of the districts of the state remains around 21 degrees Celsius.

The 17 districts of Haryana where yellow alert has been issued are as follows:

Fall in vegetable prices

The effect of increasing cold is also being seen on vegetables. In the last few days, the prices of vegetables have fallen by 20 to 25 percent. Especially the prices of potato, onion, green chilli and lemon have decreased significantly.

Current prices of vegetables

  • Onion: Earlier ₹50/kg → Now ₹40/kg
  • Potato: Earlier ₹30/kg → Now ₹18/kg
  • Green chilli: Earlier ₹90/kg → Now ₹30/kg
  • Lemon: Earlier ₹110/kg → Now ₹60/kg

However, due to high demand for seasonal vegetables like carrots and radish, their prices have remained stable. Apart from this, the prices of green leafy vegetables are also at normal level.
