It has been raining continuously in Delhi-NCR for the last two days, due to which waterlogging has been seen in many areas. There has been a sharp drop in temperature due to rain, due to which the possibility of cold wave has increased in the New Year.

Rain has made the weather colder in Delhi and surrounding areas.
- Orange alert of rain:
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for rain for December 28, 2024.
- Drop in temperature:
Due to rain, the temperature in the capital is expected to be minimum 12 degrees and maximum 16 degrees Celsius.
- Status of people:
Amidst the increasing cold, people are trying to get relief from the cold by lighting bonfires.
Highest rainfall in December in 15 years
According to Meteorological Department data, Delhi has recorded the highest rainfall in 15 years in December this year.
- Rain figures:
- A total of 42.8 mm rain has fallen so far.
- This is almost five times more than the average of 8.1 mm.
- Rain starts from Thursday:
The rain that started on Thursday morning continued till Friday. Delhi’s air quality has improved slightly due to this rain, although it is still in the ‘very poor’ category.
- Today’s forecast:
On December 28 also, it will be cloudy throughout the day and there may be light to moderate rain.

There is continuous snowfall in the hilly areas of Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

There is a possibility of light rain and cold wave in states like Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
