Security beefed up in Punjab after Amritpal’s announcement on Baisakhi

Amritpal Singh, a Khalistan supporter and head of ‘Waris Punjab De’, had called upon supporters to org.ze a big rally on Baisakhi to discuss various issues. Due to this, the security system has been increased in the state before the festival of Baisakhi. Along with this, security has also been tightened near the Golden Temple in Amritsar. It is believed that Amritpal must have surrendered in the Golden Temple.

Additional Director General of Police Surinder Pal Singh Parmar said that the security arrangement is a positive message that the situation is normal in Punjab. “We have made elaborate security arrangements. We are here for the convenience of the people. We wish that more and more people visit the state on Baisakhi. This will send a positive message that the situation is normal in Punjab. No restrictions have been imposed.

Focus on traffic management in Baisakhi

Earlier on April 2, news had come that fugitive Amritpal may surrender at the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Deputy Commissioner of Law and Order Parminder Singh Bhandal said, “If the Khalistan leader wants to surrender, we will help him as per the law.” We are continuously working for the safety of the people in Amritsar. Baisakhi is coming, so we are paying more attention to traffic management. If Amritpal has to surrender, we will take legal action from our side.
