Navi Mumbai: Even as the second accused in the Kharghar road rage case is yet to be nabbed, the interrogation of the first accused Rehan Shaikh, has revealed that they had been hiding at Goa, Sidhudurg and Ratnagiri till they ran out of money and finally came back to Mumbai. After they reached Mumbai, they tried to get in touch with a relative whom they planned to meet at BKC on February 10 night when the police caught Faizan Shaikh (22).

On February 3, IT Professional Shivkumar Roshanlal Sharma (45), was killed at around 8.30 pm following a fight over overtaking. Sharma along with the accused stopped between Belpada and Utsav Chowk and started arguing which led to a fight in the course of which Sharma assaulted one of the accused following which the accused took his helmet and hit Sharma on his head, multiple times, a crime branch official had confirmed. Sharma collapsed after he drove 1 km to Kharghar police station and reported the assault.

According to police, the duo came to know about the death of Sharma, only the next day, through media and after that they drove the scooty that was used even at the time of the fight, to Goa and from there they went to Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, hiding from the police. After the money they had was exhausted, they came back to Mumbai but did not go back to their residence at Nagpada.

Using technical analysis, the police finally traced them to BKC and nabbed Rehan while Faizan managed to give a skip. The arrested accused is in custody of Kharghar police. “We are still hunting for the second accused and our team is still on the field,” senior police inspector Deepak Surve from Kharghar police station said.
