Trump’s action on illegal migrants: Donald Trump has initiated major action against illegal migrants as soon as he takes power. The Trump administration has deported hundreds of foreigners living illegally in the US in 6 days. Now the Trump officials are also visiting the gurdwaras in search of illegal immigrants. Security officers of the Home Department (DHS) visited Gurdwaras of New York and New Jersey to investigate illegal immigrants.

This search operation was heavily criticized by Sikh organizations

Some Sikh organizations also strongly criticized it. Sikh organizations have described such action as a threat to the sanctity of their faith. Sikhs are believed to have been using some non-dominant immigrants in New York and New Jersey along with separatists.

Joe Biden canceled law enforcement

Hours after Donald Trump sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, the Acting State Secretary of the Department of Homeland, Benjamin Hafman, a instruction and Customs and Border Security (CBP) Issued. Former President Joe Biden’s administration canceled the guidelines that obstruct law enforcement in or around the so -called sensitive areas. It includes religious places like Gurudwaras and Church.

Outrage in Sikh community due to Trump’s action

In a statement, the Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund (SALDF) expressed serious concern over the instructions to cancel the first guidelines to specify sensitive areas such as worship places in relation to restrictions on immigration enforcement operations. SALDF said, “This disturbing change in policy came after community reports that DHS officials visited Gurdwaras in New York and New Jersey areas just a few days after the instructions were issued.

SALDEF Executive Director Kiran Kaur Gill said, “We are extremely concerned with the Home Ministry’s decision to remove security in sensitive areas and target religious places like gurdwaras.”

Kiran Kaur Gill further stated that the gurudwaras are not just a place of worship, they are important community centers that provide support, nutrition and spiritual consolation to the Sikhs and comprehensive community.

He said, “By targeting these places for action, there is a threat to the sanctity of our faith and a disturbing message is sent among the immigrant communities across the country.”
