Kolkata: Judge Anirban Das of Sealdah session court on Saturday had pronounced RG rape and murder prime accused Sanjoy Roy as ‘guilty’ of the incident.

Roy’s punishment will be announced on Monday.

While pleading innocence, Roy in the court said that he is being ‘framed’.

Replying to Roy, Justice Das said that the evidence that CBI has submitted is enough to prove him guilty.

“Will hear from you on Monday before pronouncing the punishment,” said the judge.

Notably, Roy was brought to the court premises with tight security so that he cannot talk to anyone. BNS 64, 66, 103 (1) has been slapped against Roy for rape and murder of the junior medic at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

After the order, the RG Kar rape and murder victim’s father said that they have just achieved the first step.

“We want capital punishment for Roy. I have lost my daughter but I am grateful to everyone for supporting me in the trying times. The legal battle won’t stop till everyone behind the rape and murder gets punished,” said the victim’s father.

The victim’s mother also pleaded for punishment of others who were behind the rape and murder incident on August 9.

The protesting doctors from West Bengal Junior Doctors Front along with Abhaya Manch were seen holding a rally where they distributed leaflets mentioning the questions they have asked from the CBI.

Ashfaqullah, a junior doctor, said that their questions are still unanswered.

“We will still say that Sanjoy Roy is not the only person behind the crime. There are more people behind it. We need to know those names as well and also demand their punishments. Our protests will continue till we get the answers,” added the junior doctor.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh said that the CBI’s findings are exactly what Kolkata police did within 24 hours of the crime.
