Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 14-year-old boy narrowly avoided a dangerous encounter with a venomous Russell viper, which was found coiled inside his school shoe.
The incident occurred in Gulabi Nagar at Hoshangabad Road on Thursday morning.
Ayushman, a class 9 student at a private school was preparing to leave for school when he discovered the snake.
After polishing his shoes on the rooftop, he wore one shoe without issue but felt movement and coldness wearing the other. Shocked, he removed the shoe and found the deadly snake coiled inside.
Ayushman screamed, alerting his family. His grandfather, Surendra Prasad Singh carefully placed the shoe in a polythene bag and later released the snake into the nearby jungle. Ayushman’s mother, Poonam Kumari revealed that the shoes had been left in the veranda for two days as Ayushman was unwell and had missed school earlier.
Thankfully, despite his foot briefly touching the snake, it did not bite him. Ayushman attended school later that day, but his family remained concerned, checking with teachers about his well-being. The family expressed relief, thanking their stars that no harm came to their ward.
