Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Hu, hmm, nahi… are the single syllable replies by Saurabh Sharma to a volley of questions from Lokayukta police. Former RTO constable Saurabh’s two key associates are also responding in negative saying ‘they know nothing’. The three accused, arrested by the Lokayukta police in connection with a corruption case, are not cooperating with the investigating agency.
On the completion of the first day of their remand on Wednesday, the Lokayukta police could not gather anything of vital importance from the trio- Saurabh Sharma, his associate Chetan Singh Gaur, and business partner Sharad Jaiswal.
The Lokayukta police have got seven day remand of Sharma and Gaur and six-day remand of Jaiswal in connection with a disproportionate assets case. The investigators are questioning them about the sources of the assets recovered during recent raids. The three accused are being held at Kohefiza police station. They spent the night in the police lockup and were brought to the Lokayukta office for interrogation on Wednesday morning. The sleuths are questioning them separately in different rooms. So far, the accused have not provided any vital information, refusing to cooperate. While Saurabh remains silent, his associates Chetan and Sharad claim they know nothing.
No home-cooked meal or clothes
The trio was denied home-cooked meals and police purchased food from the market. Saurabh, Chetan and Sharad have different food preferences, but the police are providing meals as per the set protocol. Saurabh’s mother brought food from home, but the police refused to give it to Saurabh. The police also denied accepting clothes brought by accused families. The police are taking all precautions and ensuring that nothing goes wrong during their remand period.
Chetan, Sharad wept for hours
Saurabh’s key associates Chetan, Sharad broke down and wept for hours after their arrest. With no family members to console them, the police personnel tried to calm them down but to no avail.
Sharad taken to hospital
Sharad was taken to hospital after he complained of uneasiness upon being brought to police lockup. After a medical checkup, he was taken back to the lockup. The trio, used to lavish lifestyle, will have to spend nights in the small and dingy police lockup. The trio who has been living a luxurious life and not in habit of spending night in small and dingy place like police lockup. They reportedly felt uneasy during the night in the lockup.
Info on petrol pump, construction company ‘Aviral’
During interrogation, the officers have come to know about a construction company ‘Aviral’, registered in name of Chetan and Sharad. It has come to fore that the company owns a petrol pump under the same name. The investigating officers suspect that huge money was invested in the company and anticipate more revelation regarding illicit financial activities and corruption.
