Sardarpur (Madhya Pradesh): The residents of Madhya Pradesh’s Sardarpur, staged a sit-in protest led by councillor Reshma Parvez Lodhi against the disruption in water supply for the past eight days in the area.
Troubled for a week, they demanded immediate resumption of water supply.
According to information, the councillor led a group of residents to the civic body office Thursday, where they staged a sit-in protest and raised slogans against officials.
Residents forced to purchase water
The erratic supply has forced residents to purchase water from private suppliers and tankers to meet their daily needs.
They blamed the civic body for failing to address the issue, despite a proposal for a new motor being approved in a previous meeting.
According to CMO Shukla, the delay in water supply was due to a burnt motor, but residents maintained that this explanation was insufficient as the issue persists.
Residents warn of further protests
Residents said that in case authorities fail to address the demands, they will take to the streets against them. During the sit-in, CMO Shukla assured them that water would be supplied on time.
The residents have vowed to continue their protests if the water supply is not restored soon.
