The Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha of each month is celebrated as Sankashti Chaturthi. This date is considered very special to get the grace of Lord Ganesha. Chaturthi coming in Krishna Paksha is also called Ekadanta Sankashti Chaturthi. Fasting is also kept on this day and this fast is broken after moonrise. In Hinduism, Lord Ganesha is considered to be a deity to remove all obstacles.
Sankashti Chaturthi auspicious time
According to the almanac, Chaturthi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Jyeshtha month will start at 4.3 am on Friday, May 17 and will end on Saturday at 5.13 am on Saturday. This time Sankashti Chaturthi fast will be kept on May 16, Friday. Also, at that time Chandrodaya will be at 10:39 pm.
Include these things in worship.
After cleaning the temple on the day of Sankashti Chaturthi, first install the idol of Lord Ganesha and rinse thrice. After this, get Ganesha bathed with Panchamrit and light a lamp in front of the idol. During the puja, offer green clothes, janeu, sandalwood, durva, betel nut, rice, incense, lamp, yellow flowers and fruits etc. during the puja.
While offering Durva, chant the mantra ‘Shri Ganeshaya Namah Durvankuram Dedayami’. After this, offer Ganesha to his beloved bhog i.e. modak and laddus. Finally chant the mantras of Lord Ganesha and perform the aarti and distribute the offerings to all.
