Football team Mohun Bagan owner and billionaire businessman Sanjiv Goenka copped flak from the netizens for accompanying the players in lifting away the trophy after the ISL 2025 win. Netizens on social media accused him of ruining the moment as they wished for the players to celebrate the moment created by them on their own.
Mohun Bagan clashed with the Bengaluru FC on Saturday at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata and the former won 2-1 to lift the coveted trophy. Although Bengaluru’s Alberto Rodriguez had opened the scoring for their side in the 49th minute, Jason Cummings and Jamie Maclaren went on to net two goals to help the hosts lift the trophy.

Lucknow Super Giants consign Gujarat Titans to their second loss of the season
On the cricketing side of things, the Lucknow Super Giants, the IPL team, also owned by Goenka, coasted to their fourth win of the 2025 edition and broke Gujarat Titans’ four-game winning run. With Rishabh Pant winning the toss, he put the Titans into bat. Their openers B Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill played sublime knocks, stitching a 120-run opening stand. However, LSG did an outstanding job of pulling back things from that stage and kept them to 180/6.
With the bat, Nicholas Pooran blasted another half-century, while Aiden Markram also struck a composed fifty, propelling the Super Giants to a six-wicket victory. Markram was the Player of the Match for his 31-ball 58 and plucking two outstanding catches on the field.
