New Delhi: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP, Sanjay Raut, while speaking in the Rajya Sabha got agitated when he was heckled while speaking on the “Immigration and foreigners bill” on Wednesday.
“When this bill was tabled, Home Minister said that this country is not a Dharamshala, its neither anybody’s goal to make it one. However, this country is not even a jail,” Raut said.
Before Raut could say any further, a member from the treasury bench shouted the name of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray. To which an agitated Raut was seen snapping his fingersĀ and asking, “Kaun bol raha hai Balasaheb Thackeray?, Kaun hai?. kya hai?.” Which roughly translates to, Who is taking the name of Balasaheb Thackeray?, who is it?
Raut further said, “Dus baar party badlne wale ye log hai.” Which roughly translates to these people have switched parties ten times.
Raut’s colleague, Priyanka Chaturvedi, who was sitting behind him, then stood up and asked the member from the treasury bench to sit down.
What Bal Thackeray Had Said On Illegal Migrants
In an interview with Suketu Mehta, Thackeray had called for the mass expulsion of illegal Bangladeshi Muslim migrants from India and for a visa system to enter Mumbai.
The Parliament has passed the Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025 with the Rajya Sabha approving it today. The Lok Sabah has already passed the bill on March 27, 2025. The legislation seeks to regulate the immigration, entry, and stay of foreigners in India.
