Sandeep Naik meets CIDCO. |

Lottery winners of CIDCO’s “Maza Pasantiche Ghar 2024” mass housing scheme are set to receive their apartments. However, concerns have been raised about the allotment of flats and the actual carpet area winners will receive.

“The area allotted will be smaller than originally promised,” said former MLA Sandeep Naik. He has demanded that CIDCO honor its initial commitments. Under this scheme, CIDCO had announced a lottery for 26,000 homes catering to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Low-Income Group (LIG).

The official brochure stated that LIG apartments at Panvel (West), Kharghar Bus Terminus, Mansarovar Railway Station, Khandeshwar Railway Station, Kharkopar Sector 16-A, and Vashi Truck Terminus would have a carpet area of 322 square feet.

However, after the lottery results, the Letter of Intent (LOI) issued to winners specifies a RERA carpet area of only 291.91 square feet, marking a reduction of nearly 30 square feet, according to a representative of the former MLA.

Expressing strong opposition to this unexpected change, Sandeep Naik has urged CIDCO to allot apartments with the originally declared carpet area. “Beneficiaries should not be deprived of the homes they were promised, and CIDCO must rectify the discrepancy immediately,” he said.

Meanwhile, the matter has been escalated to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Ministers, Urban Development Department, and other relevant authorities. “CIDCO must uphold the rights of the lottery winners and ensure they receive the full apartment sizes as originally advertised,” Naik added.
