Aryan Khan case: Sameer Wankhede clarifies on arrest and leaked chats

In the year 2021, the arrest of Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan caught the attention of the entire country. Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) zonal director Sameer Wankhede, who arrested Aryan Khan, recently broke his silence on the matter. Aryan Khan was granted bail after 25 days in jail and was later acquitted of all charges.

Was Sameer Wankhede targeted for Aryan’s arrest?

While talking to NEWJ, when Sameer was asked whether he was targeted to arrest Shahrukh Khan’s son, he denied it. Sameer said:

“I wouldn’t say I was targeted. But I consider myself lucky that I got the support of middle class people. He felt that no matter how old one is, the law should be equal for everyone. I have no regrets about my work. If I get a chance like this again, I will do the same.”

During the arrest of Aryan Khan, the chats between Shahrukh Khan and Sameer Wankhede were leaked. On this Sameer Wankhede said:

“I did not leak those chats. I am not weak enough to do such things. I have given an affidavit on this matter in the court, so I can’t say much.”

When asked if the chats were deliberately leaked to show Shahrukh and Aryan as victims, he sarcastically said:

“Whoever did this, I would advise them to try harder.”

Reaction on calling Aryan a ‘child’

The media had presented Aryan Khan as a “child”. On this Sameer Wankhede said:

“I don’t think I arrested any kids. Bhagat Singh sacrificed his life for the country at the age of 23. You wouldn’t call him a child.”

What happened in Aryan Khan case?

Aryan Khan was arrested in 2021 in a cruise drugs party case. This case had created a huge controversy, but Aryan was later acquitted of all charges. During this time, the matter became more heated due to the leaking of chats between Shahrukh Khan and Sameer Wankhede.

Sameer Wankhede’s statement shows that he stands by his decision and considers it right. This case has once again given rise to debate on the role of law, media and celebrities.
