To investigate the violence that took place during the survey of Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal, a four-member ballistic team of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reached the spot on Monday and started the investigation. The team did scene recreation in the violence affected areas and studied the incidents of stone pelting and firing from every aspect.

Detailed investigation lasted for three hours

The FSL team, which arrived in the morning, first started the scene recreation in the area behind Shahi Jama Masjid. After this the team reached Kotwali, where they discussed in detail with SP Krishna Kumar Vishnoi. The team also tried to understand various angles related to the violence in Nakhasa intersection and Hindupura Kheda area.

  1. Firing angle and stoning:
    The team studied the angles of firing and stone pelting. Lighting and angles were used for this.
  2. Security of evidence:
    The team secured all the evidence related to the violence through video and photography.
  3. Security arrangements:
    Strict security arrangements were made during the investigation. Shops around Shahi Jama Masjid remained closed and police force remained deployed.

FSL team sent on SP’s request

SP Krishna Kumar Vishnoi had written a letter to the Lucknow-based FSL director for a thorough investigation into the violence. After this a team of four-member ballistic experts was sent. The team visited various places related to the violence for three hours, collected evidence and analyzed the incidents.

Expectations of disclosure of events

The evidence and scene recreation collected by the FSL team is expected to identify the real perpetrators and conspirators of the violence. The report will also include detailed information on the direction and angles of firing and stone pelting.

Suspicion of international conspiracy using foreign cartridges

During investigation, FSL team has found cartridges made in Pakistan and America. These point to the international connection of the violence, which has increased the seriousness of the matter.

Background: November 24 violence

On November 24, violence broke out during the survey of Shahi Jama Masjid. Four youths were killed in the shooting, while many others were injured. The FSL team will also meet the injured and study their wounds.
