The name of the Shahi Jama Masjid located in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh can be changed. ASI has decided to set up a new nameplate. A new signboard has also been sent by the survey department to a police station in Sambhal. The mosque on this new board is called “Zuma Masjid”, while this mosque is known as “Shahi Jama Masjid”.
The blue ASI signboard is currently located at the Satyavrat police post and will soon be replaced in place of the old name plate. ASI lawyer Vishnu Sharma said that the ASI had first placed signboards outside the mosque, but some people removed him and replaced him with the name of Shahi Jama Masjid.
The board of “Zuma Masjid” is already present in the mosque complex.
The ASI counsel said that the name of the mosque in the documents is “Zuma Masjid”. Vishnu Sharma said that there is already a blue ASI board with the same name (Zuma Masjid) in the mosque complex. So far, ASI has not given any information about the time of installing new name plates.
Violence erupted in Sambhal in November.

ASI explained the reason for changing the name
