Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s father, Joseph Prabhu, passed away. On Friday, (November 29), the actress shared the shocking news of his death on social media.
Samantha’s heartbreaking Instagram story read, “Untill we meet again, Dad (heartbreak emoji).” The cause of his not known yet.
The actress was born to Joseph Prabhu and Ninette Prabhu in Chennai. In a recent interview with Galatta India, Samantha shared her struggles with seeking validation and how it influenced her personal journey. She had also opened up about her strained relationship with her father.
Revealing how it affected her self-worth, the actress said, “All my life growing up, I had to fight for validation. My father was kind of like… I think most Indian parents are like that. They think they’re protecting you. He actually told me, ‘You’re not that smart. This is just the standard of Indian education. That’s why even you can get a first rank.’ When you say that to a child, I really believed for the longest time that I’m not smart and not good enough.”
Joseph Prabhu was a Telugu Anglo-Indian. The actress’ mother is a Syrian Malayali, according to reports.
Nearly a year after Samantha and Naga Chaitanya’s marriage ended in October 2021, Joseph Prabhu, had taken to Facebook to share their wedding photos and reflect on the past. He admitted it took him a long time to accept their separation.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Samantha was last seen in Raj & DK’s web series Citadel: Honey Bunny opposite Varun Dhawan.
