New Delhi: Further action has been initiated against industrialist Gautam Adani in the US Securities and Exchange Commission case. The US sought help from the central government to investigate the matter. Along with this, summons notice was sent to Adani. The Central Government has now sent this summons to the Ahmedabad Sessions Court and the court has been asked to be taken to Adani’s residence in Ahmedabad.
Earlier, the US Exchange Commission had sought help from the Central Government to bring the summons issued against Gautam Adani to Adani. This assistance was sought under the Hague Convention, 1965 Hague Convention, which allows a country to seek assistance from the country in delivering the document to a citizen facing a case abroad. This summons came to India from America as a part of this conference.
Later summons was sent to the Sessions Court of Ahmedabad by the department under the Union Ministry of Law and Justice. Now this summons will be delivered to Gautam Adani’s residence in Ahmedabad. According to a report by the English daily The Hindu, the central government has clarified that he has been sent to the Ahmedabad court after confirming summons and documents received from the US. During this entire process, compliance with the Hague Convention was also confirmed.
In November last year, the US Securities and Exchange Commission registered a case against Gautam Adani. In which Sagar Adani and other officials of Adani Green Limited were also made. It is alleged that an attempt was made to make projects in its favor by paying bribe to government officials. Recently, Donald Trump signed an executive order to suspend the Foreign Corrupt Conduct Act 1977 for 180 days, after which the US Securities Exchange claimed in the court that Trump’s decision would not apply to the previous matters, so it seems that Adani will not get any relief in the matter at the moment.
