Sikandar, starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles, saw a major drop in its box office collection as the film managed to earn only Rs 19.50 crore on its first Tuesday. As the festive weekend came to an end, Sikandar too struggled to rake in monies at the ticket windows.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Sikandar tanked by more than 30 per cent on Tuesday as the Eid weekend ended. The makers ditched the conventional Friday release and the film hit the theatres on Sunday (March 30) instead, on the occasion of Eid, and it opened with Rs 26 crore. On Monday, which was the official Eid holiday in the country, it saw a slight uptick and minted Rs 29 crore.

However, by the third day, the excitement and buzz died down and the number fell to Rs 19.50 crore, and with that, the total box office collection of Sikandar now stands at Rs 74.50 crore.

During the trailer launch of Sikandar, Salman had declared that it will be a cakewalk for the film to earn Rs 200 crore, but even that hope looks meek now, given the current trend.

Sikandar marks Salman’s return to the silver screen after 1.5 years, and fans of the actor were mighty excited for the film, given that it has been directed by Ghajini director AR Murugadoss, who gave India its first Rs 100 crore film. But the film failed to meet the expectations of fans, and moviegoers called it the ultimate snoozefest instead of being a massy film.

Sikandar is mounted on a budget of Rs 200 crore, and it has been produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. Besides Salman and Rashmika, the film also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, and others, in key roles.
