Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini’s superhit film ‘Bagban’ has hardly seen any cinematographer. Directed by Ravi Chopra, this emotional family drama earned a great amount at the box office. But do you know that initially this film was considered a flop?
Theaters remain empty for four days
Ravi Chopra’s wife Renu Chopra told in an interview that the first four days of ‘Baghban’ (Friday to Monday) were very bad. Viewers were not coming to theaters, which made Ravi Chopra very upset. But luck changed on Tuesday, and the film gained momentum.

Distributors were not getting distributors for the film
According to Renu, the film was ready but no distributor was ready to buy it. People were calling it an old -fashioned film. At that time, Amitabh Bachchan returned from ‘Mohabbatein’ and ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, but still remained uncertain for him in the industry. Then someone advised that Salman Khan should be taken in guest appearance.
Salman Khan worked without fees
Ravi Chopra knew Salman, but was not so close. When he met Salman, he said on hearing the script,
“I liked the character of Alok Mehta, I think for my parents. I will do this role. “
Salman did not charge a single rupee and just asked where to shoot.
Salman hosted in London
All Salman’s scenes in the film were shot in London. He just laid a condition that the shooting was not before 11 am, but promised that he would not go from London until the shoot is over.
Every evening Salman used to call the entire team at dinner. When it came to pay the bill after the film was over, the team came to know that Salman had already paid the entire bill.
BR Chopra also doubted the story
Renu told that the story of ‘Baghban’ was written by BR Chopra 20 years ago. But he himself found this story outdated. Later Achla Nagar worked again on the Narrator, and then the film was made. BR Chopra refused earlier, but when the film was released, it proved to be a super hit.
Salman Khan’s role in the success of ‘Baghban’ proved to be a big turning point!
