Sakinaka police have busted an MD (Mephedrone) factory in Uttar Pradesh and seized MD worth Rs10 crore.

On December 31, 2024, an individual identified as Israel Sheikh was apprehended at Kajupada Pipeline within the jurisdiction of the Sakinaka police station. During the investigation, it was revealed that his associates operated an MD manufacturing factory in Uttar Pradesh.

The police arrested two individuals from UP on February 8, who were running the factory in Lucknow. Additionally, three others were previously arrested from Taloja and Nalasopara in connection with the same case.

According to the police, on December 12, 2024, at 5,34am, the Sakinaka police arrested Israel Sheikh at the Ghas Compound, Kajupada Pipeline, Kurla West, where he had arrived intending to sell MD. During the investigation, two more associates involved in the crime were identified. The police arrested Jaseem Sheikh, a resident of Dharavi, from Taloja, and Pradip alias Chiku Harijan, a resident of Sewri, from Nalasopara.

The police discovered that this was part of a larger racket, with more individuals involved in the crime. They traced another accused’s mobile number and found that the fourth accused had used more than nine SIM cards. The accused’s location was traced to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.

A team of Sakinaka police travelled to Varanasi and, after seven days and nights of pursuing the accused across Basti, Azamgarh, Varanasi, Mirzapur, and Sultanpur, eventually arrested Mohammad Guas alias Monu Idrisi in Lucknow. During his interrogation, it was revealed that his associate, Akhilesh Pratap Singh, a resident of Lucknow, operated an MD factory in Lucknow and provided its location.

The police raided the MD factory at Shivlar Chaurah in Lucknow, where they seized 5.58 kg of liquid MD worth Rs9 crore, 500 grams of non-liquid MD worth Rs1 crore, and some MD-manufacturing equipment valued at Rs18,000.

The police registered the case under Sections 8(c), 22(b), and 29 of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. The two accused were produced in the Bandra holiday court on Sunday, and the court remanded them to police custody until February 13.
