Cricket legend and Bharat Ratna awardee Sachin Tendulkar interacted with the students of Navi Mumbai Municipal school undergoing training with  the Sachin Tendulkar Cricket Academy. The cricketer was interacting with the students chosen for a year long free training program with the academy.

Earlier the academy had conducted a three-day selection camp, where over 1,100 municipal school students participated in cricket trials. Following the final round of selection, 20 boys and 20 girls were chosen for a year-long, free training program. “ Each selected player will also receive a cricket kit, and no training fees will be charged to students from NMMC schools,” said an official.

Since the initiative began in 2022, 13 boys and 3 girls have continued training at the academy, having advanced to higher age groups. This year’s selections were conducted for students under 15 years of age to ensure fresh talent gets an opportunity.

The Bharat ratna awardee expressed confidence the Academy’s ability to nurture top-quality cricketers through its scientific training initiative for Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) school students.

“The Sachin Tendulkar Cricket Academy, based at Dr. D. Y. Patil Stadium, offers free scientific cricket training to meritorious students from NMMC schools. At the inaugural session of this year’s program, Tendulkar interacted with students, teachers, and parents, sharing insights from his cricketing journey” said an official.

The event was also attended by NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde and Dr. D. Y. Patil Stadium President Vijay Patil.

Shinde expressed gratitude to Sachin Tendulkar for extending free professional training to municipal school students and praised his dedication to social responsibility.
