‘They Just Want To Talk About Sexual Side…’: Sabrina Carpenter SLAMS Pete Waterman For Calling Her ‘Steamy’ Stage Outfits As ‘Offensive’ | Photo Via Instagram

American singer Sabrina Carpenter recently hit back at music mogul Pete Waterman, who took a dig at today’s artists, who focused on the trend of “flashing the flesh,” Waterman further called out Carpenter, stating that her dressing like a “little girl” was offensive and that she didn’t need to do that.

In response, Sabrina Carpenter told The US Sun that her message has always been clear that if a person can’t handle a girl who is confident in her own sexuality, then they should avoid attending her shows.

She added that women being judged for their appearances “isn’t something new.”

She added, “Female artists have been shamed forever. In the Noughties it was Rihanna, in the Nineties it was Britney Spears, in the Eighties it was Madonna — and now it’s me. It’s essentially saying that female performers should not be able to embrace their sexuality in their lyrics, in the way we dress, in the way we perform.”

The 25-year-old singer called the criticism “regressive,” stating that those who try to shame her don’t make comments when she talks about self-care, body positivity, or heartbreak—things that are normal for a 25-year-old. Instead, they choose to focus solely on the sexual side of her performances.

“As women, we can look at another woman and be like, ‘Oh, she has the perfect body’. But if you were to ask the woman you think has a perfect body, I guarantee she will have her own insecurities. That’s why as women we need to be kind to each other,” Sabrina concluded.

In December 2024, Sabrina produced and starred in a Netflix special, A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter.
