Mumbai Indians seamer Trent Boult hilariously asked ‘Sab theek hai?’ as he joined their camp ahead of IPL 2025. In a video uploaded by the franchise on their social media handle, the veteran New Zealand cricketer was all smiles when he found out he was being escorted to the ‘main man’s room’.
Boult, who played a pivotal role in Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2020 victory in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), wasn’t retained by the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the 2025 edition. Hence, the five-time champions seized the opportunity and snaffled him for a hefty ₹12.50 crore. The 35-year-old was the third-highest wicket-taker during IPL 2020 when Mumbai Indians won, picking up 25 scalps in 15 matches at 18.28. Boult was also the Player of the Match during that year’s final with figures of 4-0-30-3.
Mumbai Indians had a forgettable IPL 2024
Meanwhile, the five-time champions had a forgettable IPL season last year as they finished at the bottom of the table with four wins in 14 games. Although all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been retained as captain, the franchise has replaced Mark Boucher with Mahela Jayawardene as coach.
Squad: Hardik Pandya (c), Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, Tilak Verma, Trent Boult, Naman Dhir, Robin Minz, Karn Sharma, Ryan Rickelton, Deepak Chahar, Will Jacks, Ashwani Kumar, Mitchell Santner, Reece Topley, Shrijith Krishnan, Raj Angad Bawa, Venkat Satyanarayana Raju, Bevon Jacobs, Arjun Tendulkar, Vignesh Puthhur, Suryakumar Yadav.
They also had a couple of injury replacements, roping in Corbin Bosch for Lizaad Williams and Mujeeb Ur Rahman for Allah Ghazanfar. Mumbai will open their campaign against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 23 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
