SA vs SL Test: Sri Lanka were bowled out for the lowest score in their Test history on the second day of the first Test in Durban on Thursday. The Sri Lankan team was out for 42 runs. South Africa’s left-arm fast bowler Marco Jansen bowled his career best and took seven wickets and succumbed to the Sri Lankan batsmen.
Johnson took seven wickets for 13 runs, including one maiden, in a bowling spell of 6.5 overs. The Sri Lankan team was out for 42 runs in just 13.5 overs. Apart from Jensen, Gerald Coetzee (18/2) and Kagiso Rabada (10/1) had important contributions in wrapping up Sri Lanka’s innings cheaply.
Kamindu Mendis (13) scored the most runs for Sri Lanka. Apart from this, Lahiru Kumar (10*) was successful in scoring double digit runs. Five Sri Lankan batsmen were out without opening the account. This was the lowest score in Sri Lanka’s Test history. Earlier in August 1994, she was all out for 71 runs against Pakistan in Kandy.
