69th Railway Week was celebrated at Rail Wheel Factory on 11/02/2025. This day, is to celebrate our achievements of the past year and to honour some of the outstanding performers in various departments.

Chandra Vir Raman, General Manager, Rail Wheel Factory, who was Chief Guest of the function, honored the performers with Vishisht Rail Seva and Rail Seva certificates.

Chandra Vir Raman, GM later addressed the gathering and appreciated the untiring efforts of the employees for their efforts to see that RWF is always the forefront in contributing to Indian Railways’ efforts to carrying freight as well as passengers.

Highlights of General Manager’s Address for the day is as follows:

In the current financial year, wheel shop has manufactured 1,70,608 wheels, 74,979 axles and 83,975 wheelsets to cater maintenance works at railway workshops and wagon builders.

Some of the records surpassed by RWF in 2024-25 are:

• Wheel Shop tapped 700 heats and produced 20,024 wheels in July-2024, highest ever figure in the history of RWF.

• Similarly, Axle shop has forged 11,107 axles in Dec-2024 and pressed 10,334 wheel sets during Aug-2024 which is highest ever in the history of RWF.

• Record quantity of 95,435 MT of scrap has been mobilized during the year ensuring uninterrupted supply of scrap for manufacturing of wheels in line with the high targets of Railway Board.

Many targets were achieved during the month of January alone.

• Wheel shop has tapped 30 heats per day for Three times (i.e. on 2nd, 6th, & 20th of January)

• On 09th January 2025, RWF forged 557 axles which is the highest ever number of axles forged in a day in the history of RWF.

• Axle shop has forged 11,748 axles. This is the highest ever month performance of Forge shop in the history of RWF.

• Scrap worth Rs. 33.18 Crores has been sold upto 31st Jan 2025.

RWF’s innovative idea is to use released Aluminum wires instead of aluminum stars in electric arc furnace has saved expenditure and has also contributed to reduction in rejection percentage of wheels.

The programme concluded after a colourful cultural programme by students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, RWF.
