During the search operation in Kamrup district of Assam, heroin and banned yaba tablets worth Rs 71 crore have been seized and two people have been arrested in this connection.
According to a senior police officer, on the basis of special information, the Special work force (STF) of the Assam Police launched a campaign in the Amingaon area. In this campaign, two vehicles from the neighboring state were stopped.
During the investigation, the police recovered 2,70,000 Yaba bullets and 520 grams of heroin hidden in 40 coaches of soap from these two vehicles.
Yaba Tablet is also known as crazy medicine. It is prohibited in India because it contains metamphetamine.
According to the police, both the arrested people were brought from the neighboring state. According to officials, the market value of the seized Yaba Tablet has been estimated at Rs 67 crore and the value of heroin is Rs 4 crore.
The search operation was led by STF chief Parthasarathi Mahanta. He also got the support of Additional SP Kalyan Pathak in this operation.
The police further said that further investigation is going on and legal action has been initiated.
