Political and legal movement has intensified after a large quantity of cash was recovered from the government residence of Delhi High Court Justice Yashwant Verma. The Congress described it as an attempt to limit it only, while the BJP refused to comment.
BJP’s stance and Congress questions
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said that the Chief Justice of India (CJI) has taken cognizance of the matter, so the party will not comment on it. At the same time, Congress leader Pawan Kheda asked where such a big cash came from and why? He demanded a deep investigation.
What is the whole matter?
According to sources, a fire broke out at Justice Verma’s residence on the night of 14 March. Fire personnel and police recovered a large amount of cash from a room during the relief work. After this, the collegium of the Supreme Court recommended him to transfer him to the Allahabad High Court. However, the official order of transfer has not been issued yet.
Opposition to lawyers
The Allahabad Bar Association expressed displeasure over the transfer of Justice Verma. He says that in such a serious case only transfer is not enough.
