Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The transport department launched a checking drive on Thursday and took action against 20 vehicles, including school buses and other transport vehicles, for plying without proper documents, overloading and permit violations.
A fine of Rs 52,000 was collected from the vehicle drivers. On the instruction of collector Asheesh Singh, the teams of RTO started checking drives at Pipliyahana Square and Bypass Road against the passenger buses of Indore-Barwani and Indore-Dewas-Shajapur routes and the school vehicles.

The teams checked the permits, insurance, and PUC certificates; overloading in the passenger buses and school vehicles, speed governor, and other relevant documents, and found 20 vehicles violating the rules. During the drive, an ambulance was seized for operating without paying vehicle tax. The officials also instructed the drivers and others to use only HSRP number plates in their vehicles.
Bike seized after finding 28 pending e-challans

The traffic police seized a bike on Thursday after finding 28 e-challans pending against it. Traffic subedar Kazim Hussain Rizvi and his team stopped three youths on a bike ridden by Pritesh Chouhan. After checking the documents, they found that 28 e-challans were pending against the bike. A total of 27 e-challans were made for riding without helmets and another for jumping red signals. The vehicle was seized after the driver didn’t give the fine on the spot.
